Privacy Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
Say the Date ("we", "us") helps people make event invitations and collect RSVPs. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We follow the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
Questions or requests: support@saythedate.com.
Who this covers
- Hosts: people who create an account to make an invitation.
- Guests: people who receive an invitation and reply to it.
- Early-list members: people who joined our waiting list on saythedate.com.
What we collect
From hosts
- Your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us. We do not get your Google password or anything else from your Google account.
- Event details you enter: names, dates, venue, messages, house rules and the questions you choose to ask guests.
- Guest lists you enter: guest or family names, reserved seats, and any contact details you add.
- Payment records when you buy a plan (amount, date, and a reference from the payment provider). We never see or store your full card, GCash or Maya details.
From guests
- Your RSVP: who is coming, names of the people in your group, and answers to the host's questions, such as meal choice, ride requests, kids' ages or song requests.
- Food allergies or dietary needs, only if the host asks and you choose to answer. We treat this as sensitive and use it only so the host can plan the food.
- Your email address, only if you choose to give it to get event updates.
From early-list members
- Your name, email address, and what you told us about your event (occasion, month, and whether you are a host, planner or venue).
Automatically
- A login cookie that keeps hosts signed in, and basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) that our hosting provider keeps for security. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell personal information.
How we use it
- To run the service: show invitations, collect RSVPs, and give hosts their guest counts and lists.
- To send emails you need, such as login codes, RSVP alerts and event updates you asked for.
- To tell early-list members when Say the Date opens and what their early-bird price is.
- To keep the service secure and stop abuse.
- To process payments and keep the records the law requires.
Who can see it
- The host sees the RSVPs and answers for their own event. Guests' replies are shared with the host of that event only.
- Guests see the invitation the host made. A personal invite link shows the name and seats the host set for that guest, so please don't share your personal link.
- Service providers that process information for us under their own security and privacy terms: Cloudflare (website hosting and database), Resend (sending email), Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google), and, once payments open, our payment provider (such as PayMongo or Xendit). Some of these providers may store data outside the Philippines.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it.
Hosts' responsibility for guest information
When a host adds guests' names or contact details, the host is responsible for having a fair reason to do so, such as inviting them to their own event. Hosts should only collect what they need for their event.
How long we keep it
We keep account and event information while the account is active. Hosts can delete a draft event at any time, and anyone can ask us to delete their information by emailing us. Early-list information is kept until we launch and contact you, or until you ask us to remove it. Payment records are kept as long as Philippine tax law requires.
How we protect it
Information is sent over secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS). We don't use passwords; logins use one-time codes or Google sign-in, and we store only scrambled (hashed) versions of login codes and session keys. Only the host of an event can see that event's guest replies.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act you can ask to see the personal information we have about you, correct it, delete it, object to how it is used, or get a copy. Email support@saythedate.com and we will reply within 15 days. If you are a guest, you can also ask the host of the event. You may also file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).
Children
Say the Date is for adults to use. Hosts and parents may enter children's first names and ages for an event, such as a kids' party, and should only add what the event needs.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For important changes we will also email hosts.
